Rafael Baeta

Some athletes stand out because of their technical ability. Others stand out because of their determination. Rafael Baeta stands out because of the incredible work ethic and positive attitude he brings to everything he does.

Originally from Brazil, Rafael moved to Colorado to play high school soccer in the United States. Leaving his home country was a major step, but it reflected how serious he was about pursuing his goals. Rafael wanted to challenge himself as a player while building a future through education.

After high school, he began searching for the right college soccer opportunity. His priorities were clear: he wanted a university where he could study seriously, compete at a high level, and continue developing as a player.

However, affordability was equally important. Rafael did not have a large budget, so we needed to find a school that could provide the right academic and athletic environment at a price that worked for him and his family.

Finding all three elements—strong academics, competitive soccer, and affordability—was not easy.

That’s where we stepped in.

Together, we explored a wide range of programs and communicated with numerous coaches. We weren’t simply looking for any available roster position. We wanted to find a university that truly matched Rafael’s ambitions, personality, and financial situation.

After an extensive search, everything came together with Greenville University in Illinois.

Greenville offered exactly what Rafael had been searching for: the opportunity to earn a strong education, compete in a serious soccer environment, and attend college at an affordable cost. Just as importantly, Rafael developed an excellent connection with the coaching staff and felt comfortable with the team culture from the beginning.

The coach, teammates, academic environment, and financial opportunity all aligned. It was the complete fit Rafael needed—and the type of opportunity he had worked so hard to earn.

Rafael committed to Greenville University confident that he had found a place where he could grow as a student, an athlete, and a person.

Working with Rafael throughout the recruiting process was an absolute pleasure. His discipline, humility, and determination made him an outstanding player to represent. Those same qualities have made him a pleasure for his coaches and teammates to work with at Greenville.

We are incredibly proud of Rafael and everything he has accomplished. His journey from Brazil to high school soccer in Colorado and then to Greenville University demonstrates what can happen when hard work is matched with the right opportunity.
