Gianluca Gennone

Sometimes, the right opportunity begins with simply discovering that it exists.

Originally from Argentina, Gianluca Gennone was a talented and ambitious tennis player who knew that he wanted to continue developing his game. However, before booking a consultation call with us, he knew very little about college tennis in the United States or the opportunities it could provide.

During our first conversation, we explained how the college tennis system works, the different competitive divisions, the academic opportunities available, and the pathway it could create for his future. Gianluca immediately fell in love with the idea.

He saw the opportunity to move to the United States, earn a degree, train every day, compete alongside strong teammates, and continue pushing toward his full potential.

The next step was finding the right starting point.

Gianluca was already a very good player, but he still needed additional development before making the jump to a strong NCAA Division I or Division II program. Affordability was also extremely important because he did not have a large budget.

That made junior college the perfect pathway.

Rather than rushing into a four-year university before he was ready, Gianluca could earn a two-year degree, receive valuable match experience, develop physically and technically, and then transfer to another university at a higher competitive level.

That’s where USC Sumter came in.

Located in South Carolina, USC Sumter has one of the strongest junior college tennis programs in the country and a coach with an excellent reputation for developing players. It offered Gianluca everything he needed at this stage of his journey: quality coaching, competitive teammates, strong academics, an affordable opportunity, and a clear pathway toward NCAA tennis.

The connection was immediate. From his first call with the coach, Gianluca fell in love with the school and recognized that USC Sumter was the right environment for him.

For Gianluca, junior college is not the final destination—it is the first major step. It gives him the opportunity to adapt to life in the United States, improve his English, grow academically, develop his tennis, and prepare himself to eventually transfer to a strong four-year program.

Gianluca will join USC Sumter in Fall 2026, beginning an exciting new chapter as he moves from Argentina to the United States.

We could not be more excited for him. He will have the opportunity to learn from an outstanding coach, compete alongside motivated teammates, and grow both in the classroom and on the tennis court.

What began as a consultation call introduced Gianluca to an opportunity he had never seriously considered before. Now, he is preparing to pursue his education and tennis career in the United States—with a clear plan for where he wants to go next.
